Kitty
Doo (?) - Rory Dhall O'Cahan (15..-16..)
Slow
air, attribuita ad un certo Kitty Doo, della contea di Armagh e stampata
per la prima volta nel 1780.
"The Londonderry Air" è attribuita a Rory Dhall O'Cahan,
capo del clan Cathain e arpista, vissuto fra il 1550 ed il 1650. Non è
noto l'autore del testo qui proposto.
Oh, Danny boy, the
pipes are calling,
from glen to glen and down the mountainside,
the summer's gone and all the roses falling
'tis you 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
or when the valley's hushed and white with snow.
'Tis I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow,
oh, Danny boy,
oh, Danny boy I love you so.
And
when you come
and all the flowers are dying
if I am dead - as dead I well may be
ye'll come and find a place where I am lying
and kneel and say an Ave there for me;
and I shall hear though soft your tread above me,
and all my grave shall warmer sweeter be,
for you will bend and tell me that you love me
and I shall live in peace, until you come to me.
Emiliana Borello
voce, Enrico Euron arpa,
Francesco Colucci violino,
Filippo Mongiardino viola da gamba,
Giancarlo Bonino salterio.
